Playful learning is one of the ‘experiential’ methods in which the assimilation of new knowledge takes place through experimentation. This method uses playful activities, but with an educational or management purpose.
In association with the CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING approach, playful-learning allows teams to ‘learn to learn’, and solve problems in a quick, original, and efficient way.

Advantages of playful-learning

The participants behave as protagonists: they explore, iterate, and make a retrospective of the activity, to understand what they have done, how, with what result, and emotional anchorage. When necessary, they arrive at the theoretical systematization.

Through the playful dimension, this approach motivates participation and creates meaningful interactions with others and the environment.

Playful-learning allows :

  • Overcoming the effort to learn and improve oneself through curiosity and positive emotions;
  • Regulating individual and collective behavior (communication, conflict management, creative cooperation);
  • Making decisions and act more autonomously.

Bringing out knowledge and willing to progress

The unexpected, typical of playing, stimulate curiosity about others and the context, encouraging exchanges. In the playful simulation, participants experience mistakes as feedbacks, which increases self and team confidence and significantly accelerates individual and group learning.

Promoting change in complete autonomy

The playful learning alternates phases of individual work, in subgroups and all together. This dynamic increases awareness of individual and team functioning and encourages the adoption of more effective behaviors (communication, confrontation, and collaboration). The team learns to work better together

Our orientation: Serious Play

In our learning paths, we privilege the application of the interactive strategies of THIAGI, an internationally renowned consultant who has been creating training games for forty years. Widely proven, Thiagi’s Frame Games apply across all areas and audiences. Their added value lies in the interactive dynamics that generate content.

More generally, we prefer Serious Play activities rather than structured games (Serious Game, Escape Game). Thanks to the simplicity of the instructions, Serious Play is more comfortable to master, avoiding a cognitive overload for participants to learn the rules. Moreover, this kind of activity is more adaptable to the ‘here and now’ of the group.

Our specificity: associating the game with creativity techniques

Source of surprise and curiosity, the game opens the door to imagination. We combine play with creativity techniques (projective, paradoxical, rational, etc.), to put this resource at the service of individual and collective abilities to transform reality according the needs.

Our strength: Creative Problem Solving

We integrate these techniques into the CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING (CPS) approach, a recognized and structured method that facilitates the search for new solutions to problems.

The CPS process consists of four phases:

  1. Clarification: how to move from a complex problem to a specific problem;
  2. Conception: finding a maximum number of options to solve the problem;
  3. Analysis: organize and select ideas;
  4. Development: structure them and plan their implementation.

Each phase alternates between diverging (produce multiple options) and converging (choose and build judiciously) modes of thinking.  The process can be completed in a single day session, or in several isolated phases. In each phase we make specific creative techniques chosen according to the team work in a playful way.

This method is very useful in times of transformation and is the basis of Design Thinking (mettere https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Design_thinking) and Game Thinking (mettere alla sezione del sito playnbe).
